Owner and founder of GPS to GO, Russ Salo, was recently featured in the latest issue of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Magazine – The Voice.
The article begins by saying, “never underestimate the power of a cold call”, as that is exactly how Russ landed his first customer. When the company first launched in 2008, Russ received word of a growing multinational franchise operation that would have a great fit with his GPS fleet tracking systems. Not being deterred in the least by being a small, local Ottawa start-up, Russ picked up the phone and gave them a call. This company was The Maids, which is now featured on the GPS to Go website.
Four years later Russ has completed thee first franchisee installation for The Maids, with a 100 more Maids franchisees in sight for the next 24 months.
The article goes on to tell about the growth of GPS to GO, and how it is now on the cusp of exponential success. Today, Russ is focusing on preparing his business by building up the support, installation, and sales teams necessary so that the company can grow steadily and surely.
Russ also highlights the importance of being bold and asking for help when it comes to running a business. He says, “reach out to as many people as possible. Other successful entrepreneurs will be more than eager to give you valuable advise; they will be just as excited to see you succeed as you are. I believe very strongly in the value of hiring expert coaches – it’s worth every cent.”
