How does installation work?
Our tracking devices are one of the most user-friendly on the market, especially in their installation. The devices can be installed on any vehicle in a matter of seconds by simply plugging them into a vehicle’s diagnostic port. We also offer a relocation cable if you would like to keep the device tucked out of the way, as well as a 6 or 9-pin connector cable for large trucks with an ECM port. Regardless of the vehicle, installation on average takes less than 10 seconds.
What types of vehicles can the devices be installed on?
The plug n’ play tracking devices can be installed on any vehicle with a diagnostic or ECM port. This includes cars, vans, pick-ups, all the way to cab-overs, big rigs, and heavy equipment.
What type of GPS system do you carry?
We use the acclaimed GPS devices by Geotab – small but exceptionally feature-rich tracking devices that . They are also the only devices with an extendable USB port to connect other devices (like Garmin navigation) or sensors. We also offer the Geotab Checkmate fleet management software included in our solution for managing all the operations of your fleet.
Which cellular networks do your tracking systems use?
Rogers & Telus in Canada, and T-Mobile & AT&T in the USA . We also now offer true satellite packages when needed.
What geographic area does the tracking system cover?
Our GPS systems cover all of the USA & Canada, and as of November 2009 we also offer GPS tracking in over 150 countries.
What happens when there is no network coverage at all?
From time to time you will find yourself travelling through areas that don’t have any network coverage, when this happens the most GPS units will automatically store the vehicle tracking information and send it when your driver re-enters the coverage area.
How do I access the fleet management software to manage my fleet?
You can login to the cloud-based fleet management software called MyGeotab from anywhere at anytime, and from any sort of device – including computer, tablet and phone. It works on iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Windows, Apple OS, etc. From here, you can manage all aspects of your fleet (routing, maps, reports, live tracking, etc).
What can you tell me in terms of data privacy?
Only the system administrators can see your accounts and information of all branches. If you have an enterprise situation with multiple branches, it can be setup so headquarters has system administrator access to view everything, while branches only have access to their vehicles and relevant information.
Is data from the devices updated in real time?
Yes, data is updated from the device every 15-60 seconds, depending on how active the vehicle is.
How accurate is the tracking data?
The tracking system is accurate to 2 meters on a map. So by looking at a map of your vehicle, you could tell which parking spot the vehicle is slotted into.
Does the tracking system connect with a Garmin navigation device?
Definitely. Our tracking devices have the first ever expandable USB port to connect devices such as Garmin Navigation, or other vehicle sensors.
Can you train my employees on how to use the system?
We start with a web demo to help you get started, but also offer ongoing support for whenever you need it (see what customers say about our support). Plus, we have a full library of how-to articles, videos, and tutorials for your benefit.
What sort of technical support do you offer?
All our customers enjoy free & fast technical support, Monday to Friday, 9-5 EST.
Do you have a fixed or long-term contract with this?
Never! We don’t have any long-term or fixed contracts. You pay for your monthly package but you can cancel anytime. Yet, we’re pretty sure you will want to stick around.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your needs, fleet size, and range, but our monthly rates start at around $35, and the one-time hardware costs are generally $99/device. Yet, when you start off with our $50 trial offer, you get the $50 credited once you decide to come aboard.
Is there a warranty?
All of our GPS tracking products – installation, hardware – comes with a full one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
