Welcoming Our Customers

Canadian National Debt Clock

Last month, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) set out to educate the population about the federal debt burden Canadians face, while advocating for lower taxes, less waste, and accountable government.

In order to accomplish this goal, the CTF established a campaign to tour across the country in a vehicle displaying the national debt, and the debt per person to attract attention to the issue. Thanks to GPS to GO and our donated Geotab GPS tracking device and software, Canadians were able to track the Debt Clock’s progress across the country in a live feed. The debt clock successfully navigated 9 provinces over 6 weeks through June and July.

This is just one example of the tracking capabilities of our GPS tracking systems, and a demonstration of how you can utilize them for your fleet.

Below is a video testimonial from one of our long-time customers, Ritchies Feed & Seeds, and how they are using our GPS fleet tracking system. They service Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec with feed and seeds for dairy farms, landscapers, and other sources.

The below video is featuring Craig Harrison who is the fleet manager.

One of their common issues have been harsh braking and jack-rabbit starts (quick accelerations). So the fleet management software has been useful in monitoring driver’s driving habits to correct on such issues.

One of the useful features Craig commented on regarding the fleet management software was that he could go back and look at Trip History for a given driver. When one of their fleet drivers was in an accident, Craig was able to check the driver’s history and see what happened at the exact time of the event. He was able to determine the driver did not slow down before the moment of impact. Upon later interviews with this driver, the driver admitted he panicked and may have stepped on the gas instead of the break.

This gave Craig a nice heads up for the accident report.

Conclusion

From real-time tracking and dispatching, to correcting poor driving habits, to checking trip history and hours of service, our fleet tracking solution is packed with features and capabilities that can be used to the advantage of your specific company and your specific needs as a fleet manager or business owner.

We at GPS to GO recently attended the Geotab Connect 2014 Conference, which Geotab put together for its resellers.

Geotab Connect Conference 2014The Goals of The Conference Were:

  1. Learn more about Geotab’s latest features.
  2. Discover new ways of adding value through the Geotab system to our clients.
  3. Learn about future developments that are making Geotab an even better product.

Essentially, the conference gave Geotab resellers such as GPS to GO the opportunity to “connect” with Geotab’s senior leadership, development and software teams in a unique hands-on program. We learned about new solutions and features, and experienced hands-on learning of IOX and other hardware, as well as training for the Geotab Drive Hours of Service.

Our Main Takeaways & Observations

  • Geotab did a great job hosting this event, and really made us feel like a valued reseller. They put a lot of thought and planning into this conference and it showed.
  • We met one of our great clients from The Maids, Lisa Gilmore. It was really nice to be able to meet in person with this client who lives quite far from our home base in Ottawa. It really establishes that we are more than just a business selling a product; we are solution provider!
  • Geotab staff presented a great seminar called Dashboards for Dummies, Tricks, Pitfalls and Best Practices for Reports. We learned about some great new features which we will definitely be incorporating into the solutions GPS to GO provides for our own clients.
  • We had the chance to meet various interesting people from all over the world; all focused on the same main topic of “Telematics”. It was fascinating just to learn about how GPS fleet tracking is evolving as an industry across the world.
  • It was amazing to attend all the presentations from the various companies and learn about the ever-growing collection of 3rd party apps for the Geotab software. Development for Geotab is growing and this makes it a better product to work with and offer to our customers. New apps that cater to different niche capabilities means that the platform as a whole is innovating and evolving to suit a variety of business needs.
  • Some of the presentations that stood out were the Navistar,Dock-n-Lock, and Inovex both which presented great features that tie in nicely with the Geotab system.

All in all, this conference was just further confirmation that Geotab is setting the wave of the future in telematics fleet tracking.
